This year’s Black Friday gaming deals are going to be bonkers

Black Friday is a holiday in and of itself in our modern, capitalist society. It is the day in which we pay homage to our lord almighty, the dollar, and when we spend that dollar on stuff that has been discounted in an attempt to get us to spend more and more on this one day to make retail outlets and websites feel better about the economy. I’m not sure that any sort of protest will really help, because Black Friday will happen no matter what and we might as well take advantage of some of the deals coming down the pipe, right?

As gamers, this Black Friday will be a special one, as it comes a week after the release of the Xbox One and two weeks after the release of the PlayStation 4. This means that some of us will be in the next generation (granted, us PC folks already occupy this space, for what it’s worth) and that last generation consoles are going to be super cheap. The PS3 and Xbox 360 are already pretty cheap, all things considered, as I bought a new Xbox 360 last year for $250 bundled with two games after my third Xbox 360 died.

But remember that both the PS4 and Xbox One are NOT backwards compatible, so if for some reason you’ve been holding off on buying an Xbox 360 or PS3, now seems like a fantastic time to do so. It is also a good time to buy a new one if you have an old one that is acting up and your warranty is dead. According to reports, both GameStop and Toys R Us will have Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 bundles for $199 on Black Friday, each with two games bundled in.

GameStop’s offerings are the Xbox 360 bundled with Halo 4 and Tomb Raider and a PS3 bundled with The Last of Us and Batman: Arkham Origins. Both systems are of the 250gb variety.

Toys R Us will offer the same exact PS3 offer, while their Xbox 360 offer is a little bit different. TRU’s Xbox 360 offer is for a 4gb Xbox 360 with a Kinect, Halo 3, Kinect Adventures and Kinect Sports Season 2. Okay, maybe that is three games, but I doubt those three games together would add up to equal two newer games, anyway.

There are some more crazy deals on games as well, so I encourage you to follow those links and check them out. I think that Toys R Us doing their yearly game sale is hard to beat, though, as buy one get one 40% off is a pretty good deal.
