Steam Summer Sale Breakdown: What to buy: Day SE7EN

I’m starting to notice a pattern when it comes to the games being featured, which means that we are beginning to get to the end of the “new” deals with the Steam Summer Sale. A lot of these games, like GTA IV, Deus Ex, Dark Souls, Mount & Blade and Dead Island Riptide were featured as flash sales earlier on. So, this might be the end of our Steam Summer Sale daily coverage if tomorrow features a bunch of repeats, but then again, maybe it won’t be?!

Tropico 4 80% off $5.99

I feel like the Tropico games have been around forever and that I’ve somehow avoided them forever. It’s a construction and management sim and it’s pretty cheap. People tend to like it, like Jason’s Rastafarian friend. Dave
I have a Rastafarian friend who swears by this game, and Rastafarians are literally the most trustworthy people in the world, so I will pick this up for a nice price.Jason

Batman: Arkham City GOTY 75%off $7.49

I picked this and Arkham Asylum up on a Steam sale a while back and I don’t regret it. It looks absolutely tremendous and is really fun. Turning the PhysX options up just makes for awesomeness, with papers and sparks blowing around everywhere. The open world stuff might be a bit limited and you might not find yourself enamored with the side missions, but this game is just a lot of fun. I love it. Asylum is also on sale for $4.99, which is a worthy addition to your library..Dave
This is a great, great game made better on PC. Let’s talk about Physx. This game employs the awesomeness that is the Nvidia physics with swirling papers and a bunch of other neat effects that really bring you into the game. Also: you can’t go wrong with the GOTY edition, which has the Robin missions, costume packs (1960’s Batman!) and more. Great deal. Purchase this and be happy with yourself on the inside.Jason

GTA IV 75% off $4.99

We’ve kind of gone through a GTA IV revival of sorts over the last few months where we have been playing the multiplayer a lot. The multiplayer is still a lot of fun, even if it is kind of limited. This is a great price for the game no matter what and of course on PC you can mod the hell out of it. I mean, Iron Man. IRON MAN.Dave
Duh. Even with GTA V around the corner, this is worth picking up for mods alone. Do eeet.Jason

Deus Ex: Human Revolution 85% off $2.99

I loved the first Deus Ex game a lot, but the second one never did it for me. $3 might be enough to get me to try it out again, though, although I’m still on the fence about it.Dave
This is a great game. It’s not original Deus Ex awesome, but it’s still a great game. do you want a great game for less than three dollar menu cheeseburgers at Wendy’s? Yes? I think I’ve said all I need to say.Jason

Ace of Spades 75% off $2.49

Pass.Dave
My Rastafarian friend says this game isn’t good, and I’d rather mod Minecraft then play a Minecraft shooter. So just remember the Rastafarian rule. Trust.Jason

Evoland 50% off $4.99

Looks like a fun idea, but the execution looks to be a bit lacking. Maybe next time? It just doesn’t sound fun.Dave
Evoland is actually pretty cool, it’s like a journey through gaming, and as you move on from the top down Zelda look you move through time to SNES-looks to 32-bit and on until you’re in today’s games. For 5 bucks, it’s worth a pick up, especially for it’s originality. Bravo. Jason

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition 75% off $7.49

I’m a strange gamer, in a way. I really pick up on visual styles and the mood of a game and will either play it or hate it depending on that. I also don’t like games to be easy, but hate those games that pride themselves on being REALLY HARD. Dark Souls has a visual style that I quite simply dislike and has the whole difficulty fetish thing going on for it, so I pass on it, but I know that it is other people’s cup of tea. Dave
I’m a masochistic gamer, so I bought this. Even though being truly masochistic would be me buying this at full price, but what can I say? Jason

Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes 66% off $13.49

Yeah, I dunno, pass on this one.Dave
It’s a fantasy strategy game/world builder, but at this point in the sale, I’m not willing to spend more than nine bucks on anything. These times are very championship round-ish. Must hold out.Jason

Mount and Blade: Warband 75% off $4.99

This is one of those games that Jason pretty much forced me to buy and is really kind of cumbersome. The Napoleon expansion is really a lot of fun, although graphically it is kind of crappy. Warband itself just feels dated and the controls feel floaty. When I’m involved in hand-to-hand combat I want tighter controls than this, I want to feel like I’m in control of what I’m doing. I recommend Chivalry: Medieval Warfare over this any day of the week, even if it is lacking in some of the features that this game has. I’ll take tighter gameplay over expanded features, okay? Don’t tell Jason, though. Dave
Yes! One of my favorite games of all time! Buy it, and get the Napoleonic expansion so we can march into death in perfectly straight lines! I call playing the flute!Jason

Dead Island Riptide 50% Off $19.99

God, this is just about EVERYTHING that I hate about video games in one game. I hate worthless sequels, I hate zombies and, yeah, that’s about it. Get Killing Floor instead.Dave
I bought this full price and regret it. In fact I totally blame my non-rastafarian friend named Mark, who hyped me up for it, and now I hate him. The first was awesome, skip this attempt at a cash-in.Jason
