Sony teasing at huge game announcement tonight

Tonight is a big night for those gamers who plan to wait in line to pick up a new PlayStation 4, as they will be able to get home, unbox their new console, boot it up, install a new update and then get down to gaming (that is, if the damned thing actually works). But tonight could be a lot more than that, as Sony is dropping some serious hint-bombs at tonight including some other announcements that could change the face of gaming forever and every other bit of hyperbole we can toss out.

John Koller of Sony’s marketing division dropped a hyperbole-ridden hint on Twitter saying that the announcements would define next gen gaming for the next few years and involve games, but that is a bit vague and he is a marketing guy who is paid to act like everything is the apocalypse. According to Kotaku, live on Spike TV tonight at 11pm Eastern (or on UStream and PS3’s live events player, etc.), we will get a whole slew of cool stuff. Hideo Kojima will be there with a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid V, Bungie will show off a new Destiny trailer, Naughty Dog will show off a trailer announcing DLC for The Last of Us, a look into Sony’s R&D lab and a few Sony reps will make star-studded appearances.

It sounds kind of like a last minute advertisement to push gamers out the door to buy a PlayStation 4 tonight/tomorrow, but we gamers are the type who are prone to impulse purchases when we get excited, so yeah, I get it.
