Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be in your hands Spring 2014

I’ve been putting off buying a next-gen console for a few reasons, one being I quite frankly don’t want to spend the money on a new console, the other being there just aren’t that many games that I see myself needing to play. This all changes Spring of 2014 as Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will come out. So, yes this will be a prologue for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and yes it will get a stand alone release on both current gen and next gen console, but I need to play this game the way it was intended, which is on next gen consoles.

This does answer the question that this game will be split up much like Metal Gear Solid 2, although, it won’t be such a magnificent troll job as that game was. I could talk about what a beautiful masterpiece that game is another time though.

It is interesting that Metal Gear Solid V will receive two different releases, Konami’s press release says it’s to ease the players into the abundance of new things in the game.

“The advanced capabilities of the FOX Engine are allowing me to express the story of METAL GEAR SOLID in a new way,” explained Hideo Kojima, Creator of the METAL GEAR SOLID series, and head of Kojima Productions. “There will be a significant difference in what METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN brings to the series, so we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game offers. As such, METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES has been designed to introduce key elements, while setting up the events of METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN.”
