2011 was a great year for gaming: Uncharted 3, Portal 2, Deus Ex, Skyrim and L.A Noire came out, just to name a few. The latter of which had a very interesting development cycle. It took the people over at Team Bondi seven years to develop LA Noire, and you would need more than 2 hands to count how many times it was delayed. Then when the game finally was released, there were 100 names that weren’t in or misprinted in the credits, and then there were some “leaked” emails between Team Bondi and Rockstar (the publisher) which showed how rocky their relationship really was. Even with all of that back and forth drama, L.A. Noire was still a brilliantly fun game and from a technical standpoint, it was a masterpiece.
It spoiled me to an extent; obviously the gameplay relied on the facial animations, so it better be damn good, but I see myself finding flaws I didn’t see before in other games now. It has forever changed my look on gaming since I laid on hands on it. It appears that the guys at Team Bondi are at it again, albeit under a new roof with Kennedy-Miller Mitchell, which just makes me think that they are hanging out with Don Draper. Also yes: that’s the same company that made Mad Max AND Happy Feet, which is weird. All of this leads to us seeing some gameplay from their new game Whore of the Orient, which recently was leaked, here it is:
Now let’s hope they can find a publisher.
