Look, we love sharks. There is just nothing cooler than the concept of these predators of the sea that vary in size from small to the size of a small truck moving stealthily around the ocean before striking their prey and making them into a quick meal. I’d go out on a limb and say that just about anything involved with sea life is pretty fascinating, but then again, we don’t have Dolphin Week on the Discovery Channel every year, do we?
We’ve already known that Assassin’s Creed IV will feature a minigame where you can harpoon a whale, which raised the ire of PETA, but now it looks like you’ll be able to fend off the great terrors of the deep as well. A few screenshots released today show our fearless pirate protagonist, Kenway, swimming with a shark as well as jabbing a spear into its mouth. From what we’ve heard, this is apparently a Quick Time Event that if done properly, you’ll spear and kill the great white shark and it will be yours for the taking.
While I can’t say that I’m enthused that the whole ship battle thing carried over from Assassin’s Creed III and that the hunting in ACIII was kind of crappy, the idea of hunting whales and sharks is pretty damned cool.
