Amazon is making a gaming console and it will be released before the end of 2013

It was only a matter of time until Amazon hopped in the gaming industry with their very own Android based console. It’s news that many of us knew was coming, but definitely didn’t expect to be announced this year. Not much is known about this mysterious console other than it will most likely not be one of those next-gen consoles that we’re all salivating to get our hands on. Check out this tidbit from Game Informer of the Amazon gaming console that will probably drop on Black Friday.

Sources have approached Game Informer with an interesting bit of news from one of the world’s largest retailers. Amazon is developing an Android based console for release by the end of this year, most likely by Black Friday.

According to those we spoke with who have knowledge of the in-development hardware, Amazon will be leveraging the titles already available on its platform. Each day, the company offers one productivity or game app for free and stocks a healthy library for its own devices, like the Kindle Fire. The console will also have its own, dedicated controller.

No word on whether the console will be hand-held or an actual plug-in-play console. Hopefully this will inspire Apple to stop redesigning the iPhone and finish work on their highly-talked about gaming console that has allegedly be in production for years. Props to Gin Rummy on the news tip and enjoy your 100 points.
