In her first Strikeforce debut, Miesha Tate is defeated by Sarah Kaufman via unanimous decision. The fight was held on May 15, 2009, in Fresno, California.

Miesha kicked Sarah Oriza to the head in CageSport MMA event on October 3, 2009, which took place in Tacoma, Washington. This was the most attractive knockout of her career. The Cupcake demonstrated how hard right high kick she has.

Her winning streak continued during the year 2010. Victory over Valerie Coolbaugh via world-class armbar enabled Miesha to retain Freestyle Cage Fighting champion belt. After this victory, she was promoted to Strikeforce.

The Cupcake demonstrated amazing submission skills in her Strikeforce debut on March 26, 2010, against Zoila Frausto Gurgel. She won via spectacular armbar in the second round. The event took place in Fresno, California.

Miesha Tate vs Ronda Rousey – Broken Arm

The fight took place on March 3, 2012, in Columbus, Ohio. It was the main event of the evening! It was very dynamic from its beginning. Miesha took her down but also escaped Ronda’s submission attempt in the first minute of the fight.

Miesha had the offensive and controlled the fight, but successful armbar at 4:27 of the first round almost cost “Cupcake” a broken arm. Ronda performed a painful armbar, but she denied to tap out. When referee stopped the fight, she was unable to move her left arm.

Before promoting to the UFC, Miesha Tate had one more Strikeforce match against Julie Kedzie. It ended in a successful armbar victory. The event took place on August 18, 2012, in San Diego, California.

Miesha Tate – UFC Career

Miesha Tate officially joined UFC in February 2013, as a member of Xtreme Couture Team. In her UFC debut against Cat Zingano on April 13, 2013, she was knocked out via knees and elbows in the third round. The event was held in Las Vegas, Nevada, under the name The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale.

In the rematch against Ronda Rousey on UFC 168, Miesha had complete control during the first two rounds. However, Ronda did one more great armbar in the third round. Miesha didn’t want to risk broken arm again and tapped out.

The last decision victory of her career took place in Chicago, Illinois, on July 25, 2015. In UFC on Fox 16, Miesha Tate defeated Sarah McMann again.

Miesha Tate vs Holly Holm – UFC 196 Title Shot

This was the best fight in Cupcake’s career and the collision of two completely different fighting styles. Tate won at 3:30 in the fifth round via rear-naked choke, and became UFC Bantamweight Champion.

The match is known for the Comeback of The Year 2016. Holly Holm was demolishing her with kicks and punches, especially right side kick to the body. When everybody taught the fight will be ended via knockout, Miesha took her down and won via spectacular submission.

Miesha Tate vs Amanda Nunes – UFC 200 Title Loss

The match against Amanda Nunes is an example of Miesha’s stand-up weaknesses. After an unsuccessful left hook in the first minute, Amanda threw a strong overhand right and rocked Miesha Tate.

Miesha was weaker against a superior boxer like Amanda. After she went down, Amanda finished her via rear-naked choke in the first round and took her belt over. It is believed Miesha Tate received more than 100 punches to the face in just three minutes!

She lost her last UFC fight from Raquel Pennington via unanimous decision in UFC 205. Miesha Tate announced the retirement after this match, on November 12, 2016. She only gave Jessica Eye the chance in a grappling rematch, and she won it.
