Profile

Brian Ortega is a BJJ black belt, so he mostly tries to take the fight to the ground and finish via submission. His most dangerous submissions are triangle choke (3 wins) and guillotine choke (3 wins). He rarely delivers punches on the ground.

In the stand-up, Ortega looks for a hook. When the opponent is on the fence, Ortega delivers various punches to force him to drop his guard and almost always finishes the combo with a right hook. He also knows to throw attractive techniques like spinning back kick, spinning back elbow and superman punch off the cage.

In the clinch, his main advantage is a right knee to the head. He has excellent takedown skills. Despite he had a very tough childhood, Brian Ortega is still undefeated in the Octagon and UFC plans to give him a chance to fight for the Featherweight belt soon.

The Road To The Top

Brian Ortega had his MMA debut at Gladiator Challenge: Maximum Force on April 25, 2010, in San Jacinto, California, versus John Sassone. He won the fight via triangle choke at 1:48 in the first round, which is his fastest victory of the career.

T-City had a perfect score of 8-0 before joining UFC in 2014. In the smaller promotions, Ortega earned four submission victories and four decision victories.

Guida made a huge mistake by moving his head down and trying to escape the knee via ducking under.

Frank Mir claimed that Frankie Edgar made a mistake by accepting this fight.
