Watch: Gegard Mousasi calls female MMA fighters not that interesting

Gegard Mousasi not a WMMA fan

We knew this day was coming. When overnight Gegard Mousasi took a nap in some glowing green ooze and mutated into Gegard Mo-Sassy, it was bound to happen.

Open mouth and insert foot.

This weekend Gegard Mousasi fights Rory MacDonald in a Bellator super-fight. Champion vs. Champion. Guy who enjoys watching women’s mixed martial arts versus guy who doesn’t find female MMA fighters interesting. At all.

Wait, what? These new Bellator DAZN tale of the tapes are getting weird and highly specific.

While doing the media rounds this week to promote Bellator 206 on Saturday night, Mousasi talked about every topic under the sun. Jon Jones return, drug testing and the UFC doing too many cards all got the No Chill Gegard stamp of approval. Boom, your ass just got Dream-Caught.

While speaking with MMA journalist James Lynch, Mousasi was asked about UFC over-saturation and used it as a chance to publicly announce his disdain for women’s MMA.

Oh no Gegard.

Not like this.

“I’m not talking about pay-per-views. The fight cards they’ve put on are not intriguing. Female fighters are the main event. No one wants to pay for that. I’m sorry to the female fighters, they’re just not that interesting. Let’s be honest. Cyborg vs. Amanda Nunes. That’s a nice a fight. Who was the champion who was suppose to fight Valentina? I never heard of her and she was a main event. Who wants to see that as a co-main event?”

See the thing is. What happened here was. Um yeah. We got nothing.

Look we all have our own tastes in what we find entertaining, and that is all well and good. We’re not going to tell our dude Gegard Mousasi what to like/watch but he’s 100% wrong on his WMMA. It’s a take. It’s a bad take. And Mo_sassy should feel bad at about having such a wrong opinion on WMMA.

Can’t catch them all dreamcatcher.
