Ugh, Comcast is considering setting data limit caps for all customer, FCC votes for ‘fast lanes’

I called my representative over net neutrality getting a bullet in the head. Did you? I’m sorry if I come off as bitter here, but those that love the internet most are having it RIPPED from our hands. The same dudes who were in charge of Comcast are now moving to the FCC, smiling and shaking hands. They say the FCC can’t even control net neutrality if they wanted to, and all I see is a bunch of 1’s and 0’s spiraling down the drain. We are utterly screwed if the Time Warner buyout goes through…

So what happens when Comcast reigns supreme over the internet backbone? Things like putting caps on data limits. Caps like 350gb, which they boast as having the ability to stream up to 70 movies, but that’s only the surface. The internet, if we can just look at the most frivolous needs of the consumer, is an entertainment gateway. What about the PS4 customer who downloads a 50gb game? Well, we’ll probably see something like the Netflix deal. Pay up, Sony, or your **** is getting throttled. AND the customer himself will have to pay to go beyond the cap if he’s streaming Netflix that will then go towards his total data usage. They’ll be getting cash on both ends, and as an ISP, that is beyond unfair.

Antitrust laws are here for a reason.

Yes, all of this is conjecture, but the signs are on the wall in big red lettering.

David Cohen, the executive Vice President of Comcast said this on a conference call yesterday to quell fears:

“I don’t think that’s the model that we are heading toward, but five years ago, I don’t know that I would have heard of something called an iPad,”

Well, duh. The Ipad came out 4 years and one month ago, but back then there were things called laptops and bandwidth for all. But the fact remains that once net neutrailty goes by the wayside, ISPs can pick and choose who gets fast lanes and who gets the breaks. This can’t happen.

Internet porn will be a thing of the past.

As I was writing this article, I just found out that the FCC voted in a consideration for pay-for-prioty data usage. This will quell growth and hurt the innovation we have seen over the last 30 years. I am very saddened.

To think that one day we’ll be talking about the internet to our kids, when everything was open and free.
