Yoel Romero Smashes Ras Hylton with Vicious Third-Round Flurry – DBX 1 Highlights

Romero added another highlight-reel finish to his resume in the Dirty Boxing Championship headliner on Saturday night.

Former UFC title challenger Yoel Romero returned to the main event spotlight on Saturday night for the first official Dirty Boxing Championship event in Miami.

Standing across from the ‘Soldier of God’ at DBX 1 was former Bellator fighter and one-time PFL challenger series competitor, Ras Hylton. Also known as ‘The Jamaican Shamrock,’ Hylton entered his first Dirty Boxing headliner sporting nine knockouts against 10 total victories in mixed martial arts.

Round 1

Hylton opens things up with a couple of jabs to Romero’s body. Hylton continues to pump the jab as Romero downloads information about his much taller opponent. Two minutes into the round, Romero finally lets his hands go, connecting with a body shot. Romero connects with a big left hand and follows it up with a one-two just before the bell.

Round 2

Hylton keeps bringing the jab and Romero fires one right back that connects. Romero tries to duck in, but can’t land anything inside before exiting. Hylton lands a thudding shot to the body and the ‘Soldier of God’ comes right back with a jab that pops Hylton’s head back. Romero connects with a left as Hylton continues to work the body. Hylton tries to land a step-in elbow just before the bell but misses the mark.

Round 3

After a couple of lackluster rounds, Romero comes out slinging leather in the third. Hylton is throwing right back and tries to land with another step-in elbow. Hylton trips and falls to the mat, but Romero lets him get back up. Romero connects with a right elbow. Romero lands a left that hurts Hylton. Romero lands a pair of body shots as Hylton tries to lean on his jab to keep distance between himself and the former UFC star.

With time ticking down, Romero unleashes a couple of body shots that opens up Hylton. Romero then connects with a right followed by a booming left hand that puts Hylton on the mat, bringing an end to the fight.
