24 hours after his fight was first announced, ex-UFC star Yoel Romero scored a vicious first-round knockout at the inaugural Dirty Boxing Championship event in Miami.

Romero’s return to action on Saturday night came as a shock to everyone as the promotion opted to provide little detail on its first-ever event until it was time for the fighters to weigh in. ‘Soldier of God’ was slated to headline the secretive event against former Power Slap competitor Duane Crespo.

Dirty Championship Boxing took a rather interesting approach to promoting its event in The Sunshine State — marketing the hell out of it on social media and then refusing to let anyone actually watch it. Fortunately, the fights are expected to be available in full on the promotion’s YouTube channel hours after the event wraps up.

Until then, you can catch a couple of clips from the underground fight card — including Romero’s highlight-reel KO of Crespo below:

Dirty Boxing Championship is the brainchild of BKFC star ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry and former Karate Combat president Adam Kovacs. Also involved in the organization are Malki and Abe Kawa from First Round Management and Josh McLean of Kanpai Labs.

Per the promotion’s official rules, fighters will wear five-ounce gloves and compete in three three-minute — five rounds for main events and championship bouts. Elbows and ground-and-pound are allowed and the DBX ring being used is smaller than a traditional boxing ring.

Only 500 guests were given access to tonight’s event with a host of combat sports stars attending, like undisputed UFC heavyweight champion Jon ‘Bones’ Jones and others from the PFL and Bellator.
