- Tyson Fury insists he beat Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch
- “The Gypsy King” called Usyk’s decision win “Christmas gift” from the judges
- The Brit hit out at the AI-generated scorecard
Fury knew he won
Despite losing via unanimous decision, Fury is confident he beat Usyk like he thought he did in their first match. For “The Gypsy King,” it’s just unfortunate that his win was taken away from him because he failed to knock his opponent out.
“I was quite confident, I thought I won that fight again. I thought I’ve won both fights but then again, I’ve gone home with two losses on my record now so there’s not much I can do about it, just… do the best I can. But again, I will always believe until the day I die, I’ve won that fight,” Fury told the media after the fight.
“It is what it is, I’m not gonna cry over spilled milk. It’s happened now. I know boxing, been in it all my life… I think if you don’t get a knockout, this is what happens, you can’t guarantee a win,” he added.
It’s a Christmas present for Usyk
Instead of getting devastated, Fury remained positive, even acknowledging the Christmas season. In line with the holidays, Fury slighted Usyk’s win by saying the judges gave the Ukrainian the nod as a Christmas present.
”I felt a little bit of Christmas spirit in there. I think he got a little Christmas gift from them judges. Christmas gift early… In my opinion, Christmas gift, it’s not Oleksandr’s fault. Congratulations to him and he’s team,” Fury said.
Fury blasts AI
It was later revealed that Usyk won via unanimous decision, 116-112. While that score already baffled Fury, he was later presented with an AI-generated scorecard, which he immediately blasted.
“By the review of that, absolutely sh*t. Here’s what, f**k all the computers, keep the humans going. More jobs for human, less jobs for computers. F**k electric cars too while we’re at it,” Fury exclaimed.
As it stands, Fury now has two losses in his pro boxing career. On the other hand, the win saw Usyk defending his undisputed status as a champion and retaining his unbeaten record.
