- Tyson Fury will have to pay UK taxes and lose almost half of his purse from his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk
- “The Gypsy King” is getting 45% of the $190 million combined total payout of the fight
Tyson Fury is expected to lose almost half of his total earnings from his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk due to UK taxes.
Fury has to pay
Fury and Usyk are set to split a staggering $190 million in payouts from their epic rematch. In the first fight, “The Gypsy King” took home about 70 percent of the total purse but after losing, he will now get only 45 percent in the second showdown. Nevertheless, it’s still a massive payday for Fury as it’s around the region of $85 million.
However, Fury is not gonna walk away with $85 million as he has to pay about $45 million of income taxes and national insurance when he flies back home to UK.
“If you are a resident in the UK you have to pay tax on overseas earnings in the same way, and that remains the same no matter how much someone might earn,” a JeffBet spokesperson told The Mirror. “Good tax advice is always important and in this case you can be sure the Fury camp will have looked at an agreement that would be the most beneficial.”
Fury has a huge weight advantage over Usyk
Fury is significantly bigger and taller than Usyk and he is confident his size will be an advantage heading into the rematch. The Brit tipped the scale at 281 pounds which is 55 pounds heavier than Usky, who officially weighed 226 pounds. This is the heaviest Fury has been in his career but he assured everybody that it’s not just excess fat but “solid” muscles.
Fury is hoping to even the score after ultimately losing to Usyk back in May. The pair is just hours away from finally running it back inside the ring at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
