- Tyson Fury blamed the war in Ukraine for his decision loss to Oleksandr Usyk
- Usyk is ready for a rematch if Fury would insist
Tyson Fury is convinced that his split decision loss to Oleksandr Usyk had something to do with the war in Ukraine.
An unfair call
In his post-fight interview inside the ring, “The Gypsy King” voiced his disappointment over his defeat. In a subtle yet fiery comment, Fury came up with the narrative that people favored Usyk because his home country is currently at war but in reality, it was him who won the fight.
“I believe I won that fight,” Fury pointed out. “I believe he won a few of the rounds, but I won the majority of them, and I believe it was one of those what-can-you-do, one of them… decisions in boxing. We both put on a good fight, the best we could do.”
“His country’s at war so people are siding with the country at war,” he added. “But make no mistake, I won that fight, in my opinion. I’ll be back. I’ve got a rematch clause. I thank Jesus for all the victories he’s given me. I’ve got a split decision loss to a good little man and I thank him again, in the mighty name of Jesus. We go back home to our families and we run it back October. Good luck to Oleksandr, well done, God bless you.”

A rematch is still to be discussed
The lost saw his undefeated run coming to a devastating end as he now has a pro boxing record of 34-1-1. On the other hand, Usyk has remained unbeaten, improving his pro record to 22-0. He is now the undisputed heavyweight champion with the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC and WBO titles under his belt.

As it stands, Fury has yet to call for an instant rematch. However, his promoter Frank Warren insists that “The Gypsy King” is eager to run it back with the Ukrainian. As for the Usyk, he has let Fury know right away that he is ready for a rematch.
