Terence Crawford defeated Canelo Alvarez by unanimous decision in a landmark superfight on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Judges scored it 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113 for Crawford, who captured the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF super middleweight titles. Crawford improved to 42-0 with 31 knockouts, while Alvarez dropped to 62-3-2 with 39 knockouts. The victory made Crawford the first male boxer to hold undisputed titles in three weight classes in the four-belt era. Netflix broadcast the fight live to 70,482 fans, the largest boxing crowd in Las Vegas since 1982.
“This is the top of the top,” Crawford said on Netflix post-fight. “Canelo is an all-time great, like I said before. He’s the last one. There’s no more Canelos, there’s no more. So when you look around, you say I’m that Canelo. I’m the face of boxing now. I’m the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, like I’ve always been.”
Crawford, 38, jumped from welterweight (147 pounds) to super middleweight (168 pounds), weighing in at 167.5 pounds, his career high. Alvarez, also 167.5 pounds, landed heavy body shots but couldn’t match Crawford’s speed.
“A lot of people said I don’t have no defense, that I get hit with these big shots and that’s what they were worried about. Hey, there’s only so much that they can say now,” Crawford said.
“He didn’t hit as hard as I thought he was,” Crawford said. “He’s definitely technical, but I’ve been hit harder.”
He noted Alvarez’s frustration:
“[Alvarez] was definitely frustrated, because what he was trying to do wasn’t working, and when he’d get hit, he was just like, ‘Man,’ shaking his head like, ‘I can’t believe I got hit with that.’”
Crawford started fast, using footwork to land jabs and counters. Alvarez pressed with body punches but struggled to trap Crawford, who switched between orthodox and southpaw stances. Crawford outlanded Alvarez 234 to 198 in significant strikes, connecting on 56 power punches to the head compared to Alvarez’s 34. Alvarez threw 612 punches but landed only 32 percent, while Crawford hit 45 percent of his 518 attempts.

Crawford’s Precision Overwhelms Alvarez in Historic Clash
“Great things come to those who wait. The cream always rises to the top,” Crawford said. “All the time that they blocked me out [of big fights], they said I won’t fight nobody, I can’t beat this dude, I can’t beat that dude — every time that I got the chance, I wiped the floor with them.”
Despite moving up two weight classes, Crawford never appeared hurt. He said past opponents, like Egidijus Kavaliauskas in 2019, hit harder than Alvarez. Crawford’s win came as a betting underdog at minus 200 odds on BetMGM, defying concerns about his size against Alvarez, who was 11-0 at 168 pounds.
“My time is now and I’m happy that everything played out the way it did. And you’re looking at the undisputed champion of the world right now,” Crawford said.
In the middle rounds, Crawford’s speed kept Alvarez off balance. Alvarez landed body shots but couldn’t cut off the ring. Crawford’s counters, including uppercuts and left hands, frustrated Alvarez, who shook his head after clean hits. The later rounds saw Crawford maintain control, landing sharper punches while Alvarez’s power shots missed their mark.
