- Terence Crawford commented on being mistaken as Kendrick Lamar at UFC 306
- UFC president Dana White addressed the issue in his post-fight press conference
Terence Crawford is convinced the UFC intended to confuse him with Kendrick Lamar during UFC 306 broadcast.
Terence thinks it was done for fun
Speaking to TMZ Sports, “Bud” revealed his honest thoughts on the moment he was labeled as rapper Kendrick Lamar during the live broadcast of UFC 306 this past weekend. Crawford said he didn’t know about it until it went viral online and truth be told, he believes the UFC intentionally did it for fun which apparently worked.
“It was funny because everybody was texting me and hitting me up. I wasn’t in tune with the broadcast. I just … not taking any notice of it, and then I started seeing the pictures coming to my phone and everybody laughing, like ‘Oh man, they got you messed up.’ And then I just took a little chuckle at it. To be honest, I think it was intentionally done, just for laughters, because how can you get us mixed up? But all in all, it was funny to me,” the undefeated boxer said.
It seems as if Crawford was not offended by it as he was even comfortable talking about it with another famous artist, Rihanna.
“Shoutout to my girl Rihanna, she said she don’t appreciate y’all calling me Kendrick Lamar,” Crawford wrote on Instagram. “Y’all better show some respect for the P4P KING.”
Dana took responsibility for the mix up
UFC president Dana White was informed about what happened in his post-fight presser. According to the UFC boss, it was a mistake and the promotion’s production team is taking full responsibility.
However, White thinks that Crawford indeed somewhat resembles Kendrick.
“I was talking to Terence Crawford,” Dana White said during UFC 306 post-fight press conference. “I don’t wanna call him … I don’t know who the hell did that and thought it was … Yeah, that was pretty bad. He did kind of look like Kendrick Lamar, though, let’s not f—k around … So, when I said we had a flawless production tonight, I take that back,”
