Sydney Sweeney’s Stunning Boxer Christy Martin Transformation Revealed in First Look
Sydney Sweeney has been working hard in the gym. The actress is filming a new movie about the famous boxer Christy Martin, and she’s really getting into character. On Wednesday, she posted some cool pictures from the set showing off her strong muscles and dedication to getting fit for the role.
“Well the cats out of the bag thanks to some paps in bushes so here’s a little bts from my film I’m working on right now,” Sweeney, 27, shared on Wednesday, October 16, with first-look photos from the set. “Over the past few months, I’ve been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman — a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring.”
In the photos, Sydney Sweeney revealed her new look, swapping her famous blonde hair for a curly brown style with cute bangs. She looked great in comfy gray sweatpants, a red t-shirt with the sleeves cut off, and stylish white sneakers.
“Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I’m honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story with you all,” the actress continued. “More to come soon :).”
The project was announced in May, and Sydney Sweeney couldn’t contain her excitement to begin working on it.
Although the movie doesn’t have a name yet, David Michôd will be the one directing it. Along with Sydney Sweeney, the cast features Ben Foster, Merritt Wever, Ethan Embry, and Katy O’Brian.
In 2009, Christy Martin became the super welterweight champion, but in 2010, she went through a tough time when her husband hurt her. She also bravely survived a dangerous attack by her husband, James Martin, who was later sent to prison for attempted murder after he hurt her.
She made history by being the first woman to be honored in the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame in 2016, and then in 2020, she was also the first woman to join the International Boxing Hall of Fame. By the end of her boxing career, she had an amazing record with 49 wins, 7 losses, and 3 draws.
Now, Sydney Sweeney is stepping into Christy’s shoes in an exciting new movie about her inspiring life who fought from 1989 to 2012.
