Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fought each other, and even though people worried Tyson might get knocked out quickly because he’s 58, the fight went on for a long time. But, the fight didn’t turn out as fun or exciting as many thought, including Shaquille O’Neal, a famous basketball player.
Jake Paul won the fight by getting more points than Tyson, but Tyson hasn’t won a boxing match since 2003. Before the fight, lots of people were concerned because Tyson is older and had some health problems, even canceling a previous fight because of a medical issue.
Big stars like Shaquille O’Neal went to Dallas to watch the fight up close, but after seeing it, Shaq wasn’t happy. He felt like it wasn’t worth all the money and time he spent to watch such a slow and boring fight.

On a recent episode of The Big Podcast, Shaq said he wasn’t happy with how the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight went. He didn’t think it was as fun or exciting as he hoped.
“I felt like I got robbed,” O’Neal said of Paul vs. Tyson. “Great people like us, we’re remembered for what we do, and what we did. So the fact that Mike [Tyson] was putting out the 15-second clips…I love Mike, but he’s 58. I could put out a 10-second Instagram clip, cut it, and I can make myself look like Victor Wembanyama…but that doesn’t mean I can get out there with the young boys.
“If Jake Paul really beats a 58-year-old Mike Tyson, is that something to be happy about? That’s like me right now, or when I was playing, playing against a 70-year-old Wilt Chamberlain and bragging ‘I’m the most dominant!’, but I wouldn’t’ve felt good about that. When [Evander Holyfield] fought Vitor Belfort, I didn’t feel good about that…I just didn’t like it.”
Many people, like Shaq, weren’t too happy with the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight. Even though it made a lot of money on Netflix, some folks think something weird happened during the fight, like Jake Paul secretly giving Tyson clues about when punches were coming.
Jake Paul and his team, Most Valuable Promotions, said the fight wasn’t fake and they don’t agree with anyone who thinks it was planned. Some famous boxers like Gervonta Davis believe Tyson’s career was hurt by losing to Paul, but Shaq doesn’t think that’s true. He still enjoys MMA and boxing a lot.
Shannon Briggs, a big name in boxing, said he felt bad about how the fight turned out because he helped Jake Paul when he first started boxing.
After the fight, everyone kept talking about whether it was fair or not. Looking back, Shaq thinks maybe he wouldn’t have spent so much time and money to watch the fight live if he had known how it would go.
