Shakur Stevenson and Teofimo Lopez headlined a major boxing night on January 31 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The bout was shown live on DAZN pay per view and went the full twelve rounds. At the end, all three judges scored the fight 119 to 108 for Stevenson.

From the start, the difference was clear. Stevenson relied on speed, movement, and a steady jab. Lopez tried to push forward and look for power, but he often had to work through Stevenson’s sharp counters.

Round 1

Lopez opened by stepping forward and throwing a right hand. Stevenson answered with a quick jab and followed with another clean punch to the head. Lopez went to the body and tried to close the distance. The round stayed close, with both men landing, but Stevenson’s timing looked a little sharper.

Round 2

Stevenson’s corner wanted more jabs, and he delivered. He touched Lopez with the jab and added a left to the body. Lopez tried to answer with a right hand. There was a brief slip that sent Stevenson to the canvas, but it was not ruled a knockdown. The jab from Stevenson continued to score.

Round 3

Early numbers showed Stevenson landing more often. He kept snapping the jab to the head and body. Lopez walked forward and took a short right hand for his trouble. Stevenson looked relaxed, even smiling, while Lopez searched for a way inside.

Round 4

Lopez threw a combination that missed, and Stevenson made him pay with fast jabs. An uppercut and a sharp body shot from Stevenson brought noise from the crowd. A clean one two landed near the end of the round, and Stevenson’s speed continued to be the story.

Round 5

Lopez tried to increase the pressure. There was a brief clash of heads that paused the action for a moment. When they resumed, Stevenson went back to the jab and stayed out of danger. Lopez threw a late right, but it did not change the round.

Round 6

Lopez was urged to attack the body, but getting close remained difficult. Every time he stepped in, Stevenson met him with a jab. Lopez rushed forward and stumbled after being touched again, with no knockdown ruled. Blood began to show near Lopez’s left eyebrow as the round ended.

Round 7

The pattern stayed the same. Stevenson kept landing jabs and short clean shots. Lopez tried switching stances to find an opening, but it did not slow Stevenson down. A body shot from Stevenson closed another strong round for him.

Round 8

Lopez’s corner pushed him to find more offense. He finally landed a solid right hand after countering a jab. Even so, Stevenson kept touching him with quick punches, and the blood from Lopez’s face was still visible. A late flurry from Lopez mostly hit Stevenson’s guard.

Round 9

Lopez looked a bit more comfortable and landed a right hook and a left to the body. Stevenson answered with a clean left to the head. The jab continued to mark Lopez’s face, and Stevenson stayed in control of the distance.

Round 10

Before the round began, Stevenson told the broadcast team, “I told you all.” In the ring, he kept doing the same work. The jab stayed busy, and Lopez, now clearly marked up, kept trying to push forward without much success.

Round 11

Stevenson’s jab and a check hook caught Lopez as he rushed in. Lopez did land a few shots to the body and one to the head, but Stevenson took them well and answered back. Another clean left shook Lopez’s head, and the champion continued to pile up points.

Round 12

Lopez needed something big, but Stevenson stayed calm. He kept moving, kept jabbing, and mixed in hooks to finish the fight strong. When the final bell rang, the outcome was clear.

Final Result

The judges scored the fight 119 to 108 on all three cards, giving Shakur Stevenson a unanimous decision win over Teofimo Lopez.

With this victory, Stevenson stays unbeaten and moves closer to making history as a champion in four weight classes. Lopez showed effort and toughness, but over twelve rounds he could not solve Stevenson’s speed, control, and accuracy.
