Boxing fans are really excited because Ryan Garcia is back to fight Rolando Romero on May 2 2025 in Times Square New York City. This big fight is for the WBA welterweight title and it’s the first time boxing will happen outside in Times Square. You can watch it live on DAZN pay-per-view, and there are other awesome fights too, like Devin Haney against Jose Ramirez and Teofimo Lopez defending his WBO junior welterweight title against Arnold Barboza Jr. Garcia, who was not allowed to fight for a year, wants to show he’s the best in this exciting match.
The event starts at 6 p.m. ET, and the main fights begin around 9 p.m. ET. Garcia, who punches super fast, said he’s “ready to kill” Romero, per DAZN. Romero, who hits really hard, said he’ll “flatline” Garcia, so it’s going to be a wild fight, per Boxing News 24.
When is Ryan Garcia vs. Rolando Romero?
Garcia, 26, has won 24 fights and lost 1, with 20 knockouts, his only loss to Gervonta Davis in April 2023. His last fight against Devin Haney in April 2024 didn’t count because he tested positive for a banned substance, and he was allowed to fight again on April 23 2025.
Romero, 29, has won 16 fights and lost 2, with 13 knockouts, and he won his last fight against Manuel Jaimes in September 2024. The WBA made Jaron Ennis Super Champion, so this fight is for the regular title, but some fans on X say it’s a “fake belt,”.
There are more great fights on the card. Haney, who has won 31 fights with 15 knockouts, takes on Ramirez, who has won 29 fights and lost 2 with 18 knockouts.

There’s also a smaller fight with Reito Tsutsumi, fighting his first pro match, against Levale Whittington, who has 1 win, 2 losses, and 1 draw. Mike Tyson will be a special guest announcer.

This Times Square event, put on by Turki Alalshikh, might lead to another Garcia-Haney fight if they both win. It’s a huge night for boxing that everyone’s talking about.
