Ryan Garcia and Oscar De La Hoya’s bad blood flared up on June 29, 2025, during a Golden Boy boxing event in Las Vegas. Garcia sent an angry private text to De La Hoya about a contract offer, which the promoter posted on social media, putting their ongoing feud back in the spotlight.

Garcia wrote, “First of all, f—k you, especially you for one disrespectful me with that sh—y contract [because] I lost but I’m your actual only current star fighter. You can suck a d—k and I know you already do. So f—k you. You can kiss my ass. I’ll beat Rolly’s ass and whoever. I can’t wait till I go against you again like I did with [Oscar] Duarte and … to see your stupid ass face again looking stupid f—k you and that stupid offer b—-h I’ll slap the f—k outta you just like Canelo and Berlanga.”

De La Hoya responded:

“Unfortunately, Ryan Garcia is having another episode. Ten days ago, he spoke of God and finding his path, but tonight he sent this rant while watching his fellow Golden Boy fighters win. Bipolar disorder is serious, and I hope he gets help.”

The Text Blowup

Garcia’s text came during a Golden Boy event tied to the Paul-Chavez Jr. boxing card in Anaheim. He was upset over a contract offer after his knockout loss to Rolando Romero on May 2, 2025, in Times Square. He mentioned his 2023 win over Oscar Duarte and fights involving Canelo Alvarez and Edgar Berlanga, showing frustration with De La Hoya’s management.

De La Hoya’s choice to share the private message stirred debate, with his caption noting Garcia’s recent positive comments about faith. Garcia’s team hasn’t addressed the leak.

Garcia, 26, went pro in 2016 at 17, signing with Golden Boy under De La Hoya. His 25-2 record includes a 2021 WBC interim lightweight title win via TKO over Luke Campbell. His 2023 knockout loss to Gervonta Davis sparked their first big clash, with Garcia accusing De La Hoya of ditching the post-fight presser and De La Hoya blaming Garcia’s team for a tough rehydration clause.

In 2023, Garcia banned De La Hoya from his locker room before the Duarte fight. In 2024, De La Hoya blocked a rematch with Devin Haney, prompting Garcia to call him a “mockery,”. A brief truce in early 2025 at a Times Square event quickly fell apart.

De La Hoya’s move to leak the text drew mixed reactions. Some saw it as unfair, while others called Garcia’s rant unprofessional. Garcia’s mention of Canelo and Berlanga, who’ve also clashed with De La Hoya, hints at ongoing issues with Golden Boy. De La Hoya’s feuds, including with UFC president Dana White, keep him in the headlines.

Garcia has no fight booked after his Romero loss. His contract ties him to Golden Boy, but this feud could push him to seek a new promoter. De La Hoya is focused on events like Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga. The leaked text could lead to legal or contractual issues, but Garcia’s next step is unclear.
