Seven months removed from their instant classic, Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury returned to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to run it back in one of the most anticipated rematches in professional boxing history. 

The first time around, Usyk stunned fight fans with a closely contested split decision win over Fury, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight world champion in more than two decades. Now, the two will go ahead with Usyk putting his WBO, WBC, and WBA titles on the line. But this fight is about much more than a few pieces of gold for Fury. It’s about avenging the only loss of his illustrious career and re-establishing himself as the top heavyweight fighter in the world. 

Round 1

Usyk starts things off with a stiff jab as Fury appears to be taking a more aggressive approach than he did in their first meeting. Usyk jabs to the body. Fury looks to fire one back, but can’t get through the guard of Usyk. As Fury tries to get his jab going, Usyk continues to work the body with a series of solid jabs. Usyk opens up his striking with a combination that sends Fury retreating. Fury lands a night right hand to the body. Usyk throws a left and Fury immediately clinches up. Neither fighter offers up another strike before the end of the opening round. 

Round 2

Usyk came out looking to land big right away and digs into the body of Fury with a good left hand. Fury doubles up on the jab and throws a right that misses the mark. Usyk responds with a straight left hand to the body of Fury. Usyk is controlling the center of the ring and lands another left to the body of Fury while ‘The Gypsy King’ attempts to counter with a right. Fury throws a couple of jabs followed by a straight left before trying to rip to the body. Usyk is attacking Fury and unleashes a booming left hook that clips Fury just before the bell. 

Round 3

Fury throws a couple of jabs and then a heavy right. Usyk comes right back with a left that Fury argues hit the back of his head, but the fight continues without interruption. Usyk is starting to put pressure on Fury and throws another left as Fury attempts to keep his opponent at bay with the jab. Usyk throws a right that Fury sidesteps but ends up eating a left at the end of the exchange. Usyk goes one-two to the body. Fury lands a left hook that appears to knock Usyk off balance. Usyk fires back, looking to land on the body just before the bell sounds. 

Round 4

Usyk opes with a right followed by a short right hand to the body. Fury quickly gives him his receipt. Fury throws a right and Usyk lands multiple blows to the body of the big man. Usyk throws a massive left hand that connects. Usyk then lands another and Fury is momentarily backed up against the ropes before trying to march forward and re-establish his jab. Usyk throws a combo up top and Fury sticks him with a stiff right hand. Fury is picking up the aggression and tags Usyk with a quick left. 

Round 5

Usyk closes the distance quickly and the two clinch up. They’re broken up after a bit of dirty boxing in the center of the ring. Fury throws an uppercut that misses and Usyk responds with another dig to the body. Fury catches Usyk with an uppercut as the Ukrainian tries to move in. Fury is putting Usyk on his back foot and trying to weigh on the champ. Fury lands a left jab followed by a right.

Fury lands a thudding uppercut to the body followed by a left. Usyk throws a one-two in response. Usyk goes back to working the body and Fury gives him a few shots to the body of his own. Usyk acknowledges the shots and comes back with his own combo. Usyk lands a shot to the body as the round comes to an end. 

Round 6

Fury pumps the jab and lets a left hand go. Usyk responds with a left of his own that connects. Usyk again targets the body with a straight right and Fury sticks him with the jab. Usyk comes right back with an overhand right. Fury lands a right as both fighters are just going blow-for-blow at the halfway point of the fight. Usyk throws a three-punch combo, catching Fury over the top. Fury lands a right and Usyk attempts to unload on the big man, prompting Fury to clinch up.

After the break, Usyk connects with a big left that Fury definitely felt. Fury tries to respond with a left-right, but Usyk avoids the danger and lands another big shot in the closing seconds of the sixth. 

Round 7

Oleksandr Usyk lands a combination to open the seventh round. The action has slowed quite a bit, but Fury throws a left hand which prompts Usyk to fire back with a counter left. Usyk throws a right to the body followed by a last that catches Fury on the chin. Usyk looks to be doing a bit of hunting in the final minute of the round as Fury continues to rely on his jab. Usyk once again lands a nice left hand as Fury switches to southpaw in the closing moments of the round.

Round 8

Fury throws a straight right followed by a left jab and Usyk looks to be in hot pursuit. Fury comes in with an uppercut, but it can’t get through the guard of Usyk. The Ukrainian closes the distance, shoving Fury into the corner, but Fury circles out. Fury connects with a body shot, but a clash of heads brings a brief pause to the bout. Fury clinches up in the center of the ring and throws a couple of uppercuts inside. After breaking, Usyk storms in and throws a left hand followed by a right. 

Fury clinches up once again. Fury throws a solid left-right, but it’s Usyk who has ‘The Gypsy King’ backing away with his aggressiveness. Fury fires a shot, but Usyk responds with a combination against the ropes just before the bell.

Round 9

Oleksandr Usyk goes right back to attacking the body and Fury gives him a right to the body right back. Fury throws another nice body shot, but Usyk breaks through the guard with a nice straight left. Usyk digs to the body and Fury tries to respond with a couple of shots in close before being separated. A one-two from Fury lands. Fury catches Usyk with a right hand as the champ comes forward. 

Fury again rips to the body as Usyk continues to stalk the UK superstar. Usyk throws a couple of shots to the body and catches Fury with a right hand. Fury lands a left and the round ends with Usyk trying to catch Fury with a shot in the corner. 

Round 10

Fury catches Usyk with a stiff body shot near the ropes, but Usyk comes back with a stinging left hand followed by a jab. Both fighters are attempting to close the distance resulting in significantly more clinching this round than in the others. Fury appears to be attempting to wear on Usyk as we approach the last two rounds of the fight. Fury throws a right but eats a big left hand from Usyk. Fury responds with an uppercut. Fury sticks Usyk with a jab before connecting on another nasty uppercut. Usyk tries to respond, but can’t land anything clean before the bell sounds. 

Round 11

Fury goes back to the body and Usyk comes back up top with a combination. Fury throws a big uppercut but misses the mark and Usyk sticks him with another jab. Furry again looks for the uppercut and nearly catches Usyk with it. Usyk is opening up as we approach the final minute of the round and has Usyk backed against the ropes. Usyk jabs the body and flashes a little smile to Fury when ‘The Gypsy King’ tries to answer. 

Usyk lands a lightning-fast left hand followed by another and Fury is beginning to look a little lost. Fury attacks the body and Usyk looks to land a few more shots as the penultimate round concludes. 

Round 12

Seemingly down on the scorecards, Fury picks up the aggression and starts chasing Usyk around the ring. However, it’s Usyk who lands the bigger shots in the opening round, including a nice right hand that pops Fury’s head back. Fury is once again put on his back foot. Usyk looks to land and Fury rips a couple of shots to the body before being separated. Fury throws a one-two and swings big with a right that Usyk ducks under. 

With 60 seconds to go, Usyk is letting his hands go, peppering Fury with a combination near the ring ropes. Usyk lands a beautiful right jab. A desperate Fury closes in and is looking for one big knockout blow, but he can’t get it done as Usyk makes him pay with a brutal left hand at the end of the fight.
