Mike Tyson and his legal team has issued an official statement following the $1.6 million lawsuit filed by a UK company stemming from an alleged breach of contract in the Jake Paul fight.

Tyson was sued

UK company Medier previously sued “Iron Mike” for agreeing to fight Paul. According to the lawsuit, the “hasty and unlawful termination” of their contract with the boxing legend was due to the fact that Tyson and his company, Tyrannic entered a deal to take on “The Problem Child” in association with Netflix.

Moreover, Medier claims that Tyson and his business’ decision cost them around the region of $1.6 million, prompting them to take legal actions against the 58-year-old.

Tyson and his team responded

On Friday, Tyson and his legal team finally issued a statement in response to the allegations. According to the statement, it was Medier that breached their agreement and the boxing legend’s team was just preventing any further “reputational harm.”

”It is the company’s position that Medier, Ltd. materially breached the terms of its license agreement on multiple occasions and in various ways. As such, Tyrannic, LLC was well within its legal and contractual rights to terminate the license agreement for material breach in an effort to mitigate additional reputational harm to the Tyson brand,” the statement read. h/t NyPost.com

Tyson ultimately lost to Paul via decision in his boxing return that was aired live on Netflix on Nev. 15. He now has a 50-7 pro boxing record.
