Mike Tyson recently opened up on the medical emergency that forced his bout with Jake Paul to be pushed back.

Originally, Paul vs. Tyson was scheduled to go down on July 20. The fight was ultimately pushed to November 15 after the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ suffered a medical emergency during a cross-country flight in May. Thus far, few details have been provided, aside from revealing that it was the result of an ulcer flare-up.

Recently, Tyson opened up about the incident and revealed that the situation was a lot more serious than initially reported.

“I went to the bathroom and I threw up blood,” Tyson explained on Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson. “The next thing I know I’m on the floor. I was defecating tar.’’

According to Tyson, he was suffering from a 2.5 inch bleeding ulcer and lost an incredible 26 pounds during the process of removing it.

“I asked the doctor, ‘Am I going to die?’“ Tyson continued. “And she didn’t say no. She said we have options, though. That’s when I got nervous.”

Mike Tyson Will Fight as a Pro Boxer for the First Time Since 2005

Fortunately, Tyson has had no reported health issues since then and has received widespread praise for his impressive body transformation in recent months.

Tyson’s fight against Paul will be his first time competing in a professional boxing bout in nearly 20 years—the last time being a sixth-round TKO loss against Kevin McBride in June 2005. Tyson did make a return to the ring in 2020 for an eight-round exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr. that ultimately ended in a draw.

Overall, ‘Iron’ is 50-6 with 44 of his wins coming by way of knockout.
