Boxing fans are super excited because Mike Tyson will be a guest analyst for the Ryan Garcia vs. Rolando Romero fight on May 2 2025 in Times Square New York City. This big fight for the WBA welterweight title is the first outdoor boxing event in Times Square, and you can watch it live on DAZN pay-per-view starting at 6 p.m. ET. Tyson’s role makes the night even more special, with other great fights like Devin Haney against Jose Ramirez and Teofimo Lopez defending his WBO junior welterweight title against Arnold Barboza Jr.

Tyson, a famous former champion, shared his excitement on X, saying:

“Can’t wait! I’ll be there in Times Square as guest analyst,” wrote on X.

Garcia, back after a year away, faces a tough test in Romero, and Tyson’s comments will give fans a cool look at the action.

What Does Tyson Bring to the Broadcast?

Tyson, 58, is a boxing superstar with 50 wins, 6 losses, and 44 knockouts. He was the heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990. His last pro fight was in 2005, but he boxed Jake Paul in November 2024 on Netflix, losing by decision. Tyson’s big experience and bold voice make him perfect to explain the Garcia-Romero fight, especially since he called Romero a “hard-hitting” fighter.

Garcia, 26, has won 24 fights with 20 knockouts and lost 1. His last fight, a win over Haney in April 2024, didn’t count because he tested positive for a banned substance, and he was allowed to fight again on April 23 2025.

Romero, 29, has won 16 fights with 13 knockouts and lost 2, coming off a win against Manuel Jaimes in September 2024.

The other fights are awesome too. Haney, who won 31 fights with 15 knockouts, faces Ramirez, who won 29 fights with 18 knockouts. Lopez, with 21 wins and 1 loss with 13 knockouts, defends his WBO 140-pound title against Barboza, who won 32 fights with 11 knockouts. There’s also a small fight with Reito Tsutsumi, in his first pro match, against Levale Whittington, who has 1 win, 2 losses, and 1 draw. Oscar De La Hoya says Garcia will knock out Romero early.

With Tyson talking and Turki Alalshikh putting on the event, this night is a big deal, per Yahoo Sports.
