Michael Bisping shared his detailed reaction to Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury rematch and commended the judges for coming up with correct scorecards.

Usyk beat Fury fair and square

Speaking on his YouTube channel shortly after Usyk was declared the winner via unanimous decision, Bisping explained why he agrees that the Ukrainian beat “The Gypsy King.” According to “The Count,” Fury performed well but Usyk was just the better boxer between the two.

“When Fury took his shirt off, I was a little concerned… We know he came in 55 pounds heavier than Oleksandr Usyk and he looked very soft around the midsection. Now of course he’s performed at a high level throughout the entirety of his career not exactly looking like a bodybuilder and the extra weight well, of course it’s going to slow you down but it’s also going to make you gas as the fight progresses,” Bisping began.

“Usyk of course, was the better boxer. He was the more efficient boxer, he was landing more, missing less. Fury of course. landed some good shots, he was ripping to the body with beautiful uppercuts, missed the uppercuts to the chin of Usky just by millimeters. Some of those shots that Fury was throwing, if they had have landed, he might have knocked him out in the final rounds,” he continued.

“There was certainly nothing bad about Tyson Fury. He pushed the pace, he went 12 rounds, he didn’t get overly tired of course, after 12 rounds of boxing you’re going to be fatigued, but he wasn’t blowing out of his eyes. He was in tremendous condition and he took the shots really well, his punch resistance is still there, this isn’t Tyson Fury on the downslide, this was Tyson Fury just being beat fair and square by the best boxer of his generation,” he added.

The judges were finally right

Fury insisted that he won the fight but the judges saw Usyk beating him eight rounds to four. Bisping then credited the judges for correctly scoring a huge boxing match at last.

“Oleksandr Usyk once again via decision… he clipped Tyson Fury, wobbled him. Tyson Fury had him hurt on a few occasions. It wasn’t like round nine of the first fight, it wasn’t as dramatic as that, but I tell you what, the judges, for once in boxing, got it right. All the experts had Oleksandr Usyk winning 116 to 112 – Usyk, 8 rounds to 4 in favor of Fury. And that’s not one judge, not two judges, but all three judges. Even the AI judge had it that way,” Bisping said.

Bisping wants Fury to retire

In the end, Bisping admitted that it would be best for “The Gypsy King” to call it quits. For the former UFC middleweight champ, Fury ahs nothing left to prove and it would be a great time to retire for good.

“Now he’s lost two in a row.  Will that be the end of Tyson Fury?  Will he retire?  Certainly he’s got nothing to prove. He should be very very proud of himself. He’s made a ridiculous amount of money. He’s extremely wealthy, he’s been the heavyweight champion of the world, one of the biggest names in British heavyweight boxing. So he can walk off into the sunset and if we never seen fight again, thank you Tyson Fury, for all of the entertainment. Because it was always entertaining. In the ring, after the ring, at the press conferences, at the weigh-ins, there’s always a show from Tyson Fury,” Bisping said.

“I would love to see Tyson Fury go off into retirement, enjoy himself, be proud of himself and enjoy the money and wealth that he’s amassed and go and live a long, happy, healthy life,” he added.

Fury has now lost two fights in a row, something that he was never accustomed to. Despite that, many are interested in seeing him take on Anthony Joshua for another super fight.
