Charles Conwell gave the Roach-Zepeda undercard its cleanest statement when he battered Paul Kroll to a ninth-round stoppage at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
Conwell stopped Kroll at 2:38 of round 9 in their scheduled 10-round junior middleweight fight, improving to 22-1 with 17 knockouts. Kroll fell to 12-1-2 after Conwell broke him down with pressure, body work, and a late surge that forced the referee to step in.

The result came before Lamont Roach Jr. vs William Zepeda closed the card for the vacant WBC lightweight title. Roach carried the stink of the disputed Gervonta Davis draw into Las Vegas, while Zepeda came in trying to yank himself right back into the title mix after the wider division shuffle that followed Shakur Stevenson landing with Zuffa Boxing.

Conwell And Becerril Put Damage On The Undercard
The card also got a proper prospect check when Juan Carlos Becerril stopped Dylan Capetillo at 2:59 of round 3. Capetillo had the prettier start and even scored a knockdown, then Becerril flipped the whole table with a left hook that turned a showcase into a nasty reminder. Boxing prospects do not get to grow in a padded room forever.
Joel Iriarte stayed unbeaten by stopping Jorge Lagunas at 2:48 of round 8 in a welterweight bout, while Gael Cabrera beat Francisco Portillo by unanimous decision with scores of 79-73, 79-73, and 80-72. Dalis Kaleiopu opened the night by stopping Yeyery Castillo in the first round, giving the prelims the kind of fast-start chaos promoters want when they are trying to keep a broadcast hot.
Zepeda’s win matters because Roach vs Zepeda was not just another alphabet-belt errand. Roach had been circling the elite lightweight conversation through rough scorecards and big names, and Zepeda is the type of volume-pressure problem who can turn a tidy boxing plan into a bar fight with gloves. With Gervonta Davis’ lightweight belt situation already shifting, every result near 135 pounds feels like it can shake loose the next big payday.
The lightweight division now has another belt-holder with a much louder argument for the next major fight in the division. That leaves Zepeda in the middle of the next matchmaking conversation, especially with Zuffa Boxing still poking around big lightweight names and the top of the class looking less settled than it did a few months ago.
