Joseph Parker says his provisional suspension has been lifted, clearing the former WBO heavyweight champion to resume his career after the drug-test case tied to his Fabio Wardley fight-night cocaine test.
Parker said he cannot discuss the full process yet, but his message was direct: the ban is no longer blocking him from boxing.

Parker shared the update on Instagram, but the public post did not include any extra comeback opponent or date. His only confirmed wording points to a return “soon” while final details are still being completed.

Parker Gets His Opening After The Wardley Loss
The case started after Parker’s October loss to Wardley at The O2 in London. A routine sample submitted to the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association on the day of the fight reportedly returned traces of cocaine after Parker had been stopped in the 11th round.
That result cost Parker the interim WBO heavyweight title and ended a six-fight run that had moved him back toward the front of the division. Parker previously denied knowingly taking a banned substance, and the lifted provisional suspension now removes the immediate barrier to his return.
The timing matters because the WBO heavyweight picture has already moved since Parker-Wardley. Oleksandr Usyk vacated the WBO belt and Fabio Wardley became champion, leaving Parker back in the discussion as an eligible former titleholder instead of a sidelined contender.
Former Champion Back In The Heavyweight Mix
Parker, 34, is 36-4 as a professional. He held the WBO heavyweight title from 2016 to 2018, lost the belt to Anthony Joshua, and rebuilt with major wins over Deontay Wilder, Zhilei Zhang, and Martin Bakole before the Wardley setback.
Those wins still matter for matchmaking. Parker beat Wilder in 2023, outpointed Zhang in 2024, and stopped Bakole in 2025 after Daniel Dubois withdrew from their scheduled bout. He has also shared the upper end of the heavyweight scene with knockout names such as Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang.
Parker has not named a comeback opponent. His current public statement only says he will be back in the ring “soon,” with final details still being completed.
