- Jake Paul will fight Mike Perry on the same date as his original fight with Mike Tyson
- “The Problem Child” explained why he is taking a huge risk against “Platinum”
Jake Paul will now face Mike Perry on July 20.
New opponent, same date
Paul doesn’t have to wait until November to step inside the ring against as he is now facing Perry in an eight-round cruiserweight bout at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. The bout will take place on July 20, the original date scheduled against Tyson.
Despite the change, Paul vs. Tyson is still happening on November 15.
Jake said it’s a big risk
While everyone, including Paul himself, is excited about his upcoming fight with Perry, he also reminded fans that it’s also a huge risk he had to take. As per “The Problem Child,” it’s either the fight with Perry helps him prepare for Tyson or he loses it all if “Platinum” beat him.
“Why Mike Perry? Why now? Why not just wait what about Mike Tyson? Yes, I am still fighting Mike Tyson, November 15th, however Mike Tyson is one of the baddest men on this planet he has way more experience than me, he’s a killer and so why not gain more experience against another notorious known Killer Mike Perry?,” Paul said in a video.
“I think this fight is going to have some amazing press conference moments and really entertaining stuff that comes from it but it is a major risk. I’m literally potentially sacrificing the biggest moment of my career, the biggest payday of my career if I lose to Mike Perry but for some reason, these are the positions that I like to put myself in,” he added.
Paul is coming off a first-round knockout win over Ryan Bourland last March. On the other hand, Perry finished Thiago Alves at Knucklemania IV last April.
