Jake Paul just let fans in on a fight with Gervonta Davis that almost happened. He spilled the details at the Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano 3 press conference on April 9, 2025, saying talks with the WBA lightweight champ were nearly set until Davis got tied up with a rematch. Now Paul’s got something else brewing, and he’s keeping it under wraps until next week.
“It was highly talked about and in negotiations and almost ready to happen,” Paul told reporters.
Davis has to face Lamont Roach again after their March 2025 draw, where he kept his title.
“But he now has to do his rematch with Lamont Roach and get the win, then we can run it back,” Paul said, eyeing a future shot at the knockout king.

A tease for what’s next
Paul confirmed the fight was locked in before it slipped away.
“But we were scheduled to fight for sure. We have an announcement next week,” he added.
He’s not spilling details yet, though.
“I’m not going to leak anything, we’ve had these fights pulled twice now at the one-yard line,” he explained. “First Canelo Alvarez, and now Gervonta. I’m just not going to say anything in case it doesn’t happen.”
He’s learned to stay quiet after big plans with Canelo flopped earlier this year too.
The 28-year-old’s been hot since beating Mike Tyson in November 2024 on Netflix, pulling in 60 million households. Davis, 30 and undefeated at 30-0, would’ve been a tough test with his smaller 135-pound frame against Paul’s 200-pound cruiserweight build. That rematch with Roach, set for summer 2025, paused things, but Paul’s already shifting gears. His next reveal could shake up boxing, and fans are itching to know what’s cooking after this latest twist.
