Jake Paul, a YouTube star turned boxer, left an interview with Piers Morgan on June 26, 2025, after a heated argument. He’s set to fight former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on June 28, 2025, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The 10-round cruiserweight bout will air on DAZN pay-per-view for $59.99. Run by Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions, the card also has Holly Holm facing Yolanda Vega.
Paul, with 11 wins and 1 loss, got mad when Morgan doubted his boxing ability. The clash, shown on Piers Morgan Uncensored, highlighted Paul’s confidence against Chavez, a 39-year-old with 54 wins.
What Happened in the Interview
Morgan said, “I think you’re a great YouTuber, a great influencer. I admire what you try to do boxing, but I do think when you actually come up against a proper, serious boxer, and I suspect that Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, maybe that person, it could all come crashing down.” Paul replied, “I think the problem here Piers, is that you think that your opinion matters?”
Paul added, “You’re still a fat ass,” and “Oh, I’m just taking your audience to sell pay per views. I don’t give a fuck about your show, dumb ass. This is a fucking business enterprise. Buy the pay per view on Saturday, June 28, me versus Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Thank you, tune in everybody!”
He then walked out.
He called Chavez “easy work,” saying, “He’s a dumb ass, and so it’s going to be apparent on Saturday when he’s the one that gets knocked out.” Paul also said, “People don’t realize, I’m a real killer. I really fucking do this shit. ‘YouTube, this YouTube, Disney that.’ This shit is not a joke. I’m knocking out the best of the best, beating all of these people time in and time again. And it’s about time, that you old heads and all these fucking boxers who think they know about the sport, put some respect on my name.”
When Morgan said Paul couldn’t match a prime Mike Tyson, Paul answered:
“You don’t actually know that! You can’t sit there and say that. I think anything is possible. That’s why self-belief is the most powerful thing in the world. You don’t think I can be a Mike Tyson? I don’t think you go to the gym!”
The fight is set at 200 pounds and approved by the California commission.

His 11-1 record includes wins over Tyron Woodley on December 18, 2021, Anderson Silva on October 29, 2022, Nate Diaz on August 5, 2023, and Mike Tyson on November 15, 2024. He lost to Tommy Fury on February 26, 2023. The Tyson fight on Netflix drew over 65 million viewers. At 28, Paul wants a world title, and Chavez is a big test.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., born February 16, 1986, in Culiacan, Mexico, is the son of boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. He won the WBC middleweight title on June 4, 2011, against Sebastian Zbik, keeping it until September 15, 2012, when he lost to Sergio Martinez. His 54-6-1 record includes a win over Uriah Hall on July 20, 2024, but losses to Canelo Alvarez on May 6, 2017, and Anderson Silva on June 19, 2021. Chavez says he’s in great shape despite a 2024 firearm arrest.
The June 28 fight could lift Paul’s name if he beats Chavez, who’s still skilled but older. Paul, favored at -700 odds, wants a knockout, while Chavez (+475) trusts his experience. The card, starting at 8 p.m. ET with main ringwalks at 11 p.m. ET, includes Gilberto Ramirez versus Yuniel Dorticos.
