Floyd Mayweather likes what he sees from Jake Paul— at least for the most part.
‘It’s Good For What He’s Doing’
The legendary boxer has had his differences with Paul in the past, even going as far as hitting the social media sensation when he stole his hat in 2021. Despite some problems with ‘The Problem Child’, Mayweather holds some respect for what Paul is doing in the boxing ring, with his next fight being against UFC legend Anderson Silva on Oct. 29.
While Paul is undefeated five fights into his career, ‘Money’ says it could be go bad for Paul should he step up in competition. Until then, Mayweather says Paul is going to continue to do his thing.
“Jake Paul, as of right now, for what he’s doing, it’s good for what he’s doing,” Mayweather told TMZ. “But once he fights a real actual fighter, it’s gon’ be bad.
“But one thing I like about him, he’s selling it. He’s making good money. He’s entertaining. I like it… As long as he continues to fight MMA guys and YouTubers, he’s going to continue to look good and shine. But once he fights a real fighter that can really fight, it’s not gonna be that good.”
Mayweather Gives Paul No Chance Against Canelo
In three years or so, Paul believes he will not only challenge but beat the famed Canelo Alvarez. As expected, many others such as Mayweather agrees to disagree.
“He’ll get f***ed up by Canelo,” Mayweather continued. “There is no way [he’ll win]. He’ll get demolished. For what he’s doing, as long as they keep getting YouTubers and keep putting him in there with MMA guys that’s kind of over the hill, he’s going continue to shine. So, I’m proud of him. I’m not really upset.”
