Floyd Mayweather fired shots at Jake Paul for wanting to fight older opponents.

Last month, social media influencer-turned-boxer Paul took on mixed martial arts icon Anderson Silva in an eight-round boxing match. Paul managed to edge out Silva in a hard-fought victory that saw him score the sole knockdown of the night. Following the biggest win of his career, Paul did not indicate his plans ahead.

Ahead of his nearing clash with Deji, boxing legend Floyd Mayweather shared his thoughts on Paul’s unbeaten run in six outings as a professional boxer.

“See a lot of times when you say certain things, you don’t really want what you say you want. He’s doing good for what he’s doing, like I said, for what he’s doing. He’s just a lot of talk. Here’s the difference when you’re at the highest level, once you get in there with a real fighter that can really fight, no.”

Mayweather took aim at Paul’s choice of opponents, usually former combat sports stars past their prime and in their later years.

“Is he doing good? Absolutely, for who he’s fighting. Guys in 50s, in their 40s. Does he want to fight me? Of course, I’m almost 50 years old so of course he wants to fight me.”

Mayweather will fight Deji in an exhibition boxing match

Mayweather is set to clash with YouTube star Deji in an exhibition boxing match on Nov. 13 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. After moving on from professional competition, ‘Money’ Mayweather has kept busy competing in exhibition bouts and has shared the ring with kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa, Logan Paul, Don Moore, and Mikuru Asakura.

‘The Problem Child’ blasted Mayweather for picking Deji as his next opponent. He argued Mayweather was ‘ruining his legacy fighting no-name guys, wasting his fans’ money and time’ before issuing a challenge to fight.

Jake Paul recently faced off with online sensation Andrew Tate in a teaser clip that suggested negotiations for a potential fight were underway, potentially ruling out a clash with Mayweather.
