- Conor McGregor is certain his UFC return is now targeted to happen in 2025
- “Notorious” reacted to Anthony Joshua’s KO loss to Daniel Dubois
- Tyson Fury got brutally honest about AJ’s KO loss
Conor McGregor didn’t shy away from discussing his UFC return and future plans with BKFC. He is also one of the big-name combat sports stars who joined Tyson Fury in sharing their take on Anthony Joshua’s knockout loss to Daniel Dubois.
Conor expects to be back in 2025
Speaking to Ariel Helwani at the Dubois vs. Joshua fight, “Notorious” confirmed that his much-awaited UFC return would now be in 2025. McGregor still hopes to face Michael Chandler and fight twice next year before his UFC contract ends.
However, the former UFC two-division champ isn’t sure about what is waiting for him next year and the only thing McGregor could confirm is that he could also compete in one of the upcoming events of BKFC and DAZN’s partnership.
“It will be 2025,” McGregor said of his UFC return. “We’ll see. My opponent that I had scheduled, Chandler, has gotten matched. It is what it is. I just take it on board and just rock on. My job is just to go to the gym, be in the gym, be in shape, and one thing is for sure, whenever it is and wherever it is, I’ll be 100 percent ready. That’s all I can focus on right now.”
“I must [fight two times in 2025]. It’s the promised land, so we’ll see,” he continued. “I don’t even know. No one in the space knows. I’m the highest-generating fighter on planet Earth right now in today’s space and what happens afterwards, as I’m a free agent, I’m not so sure.”
“Who knows nowadays? McGregor said of who could he fight in his UFC return. “It doesn’t matter, it does not matter. Just as long as I can get back, whoever. I’d like it to be Chandler. I’d like to get that squared away, so I wish him well against Oliveira, but let’s see how it goes.”
“One thing I do know, I’m very excited that we have partnered Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship with DAZN and we got three world titles on the line for our debut…October 12. It is different. I’ve spoken to Sheikh Turki about it, potential matchups for my own self, a lot of exciting things going on,” he continued.

Conor is hoping for AJ’s comeback
Dubois stunned the combat sports world after upsetting Joshua with a devastating knockout finish. For McGregor, AJ should not retire yet and let his KO loss define his ability as a boxer. “Notorious” believed that Joshua just got caught with a right hand but he was also inflicting damage on Dubois before that.
“AJ is number one. This is his eighth stadium show. He’s a legend forever… For sure there is [a way for Joshua to come back from this], he had him, he smacked him back, he stood his ground but then went forward and got clocked. ‘It’s only boxing. You get clocked you can catch someone. Of course he can come back for sure.”
Fury isn’t surprised
Fury was also in attendance to see Joshua fight Dubois. After the match, “The Gypsy King” reminded everybody that anybody could get flattened out in boxing and today, it was Joshua.
“It’s heavyweight boxing, boys. sh*t happens, you get knocked spark out. It could have been me. In the heavyweight division, it’s what happens,” Fury explained. “I think what went wrong is what always happens in heavyweight boxing. A good right hand on the end of the chin, and that was it.”
Joshua was coming off a historic win after stopping Francis Ngannou last July. The loss to Duboi saw AJ ending his four-fight winning streak.
