  • “The GWOAT” might consider retiring from MMA

Claressa Shields is already contemplating retirement from MMA, admitting she has been struggling to find time to train.

No time to become an MMA champ

Speaking to Fight Hype, “T-Rex” provided some updates on her future as both an MMA fighter and boxer. As per Shields, she is looking forward to fight twice this year before taking a break.

As for her MMA career, Shields came clean about possibly retiring abruptly. She thinks it’s quite impossible for her to have “enough time” to become a championship-level fighter in MMA, particularly at PFL.

“I want to have two more fights this year. Then after that, take off a little time, maybe have a kid or something and then come back and fight some more… I don’t know about MMA, I did everything I wanted to do all over there. I went over there, won two fights, lost a split [decision], there’s not enough time in the day for me to train for MMA… Not enough time to train to become a PFL world champion,” she opened up.

An undisputed boxing career

Shields is currently 2-1 as an MMA fighter. All of her pro MMA bouts took place under the PFL banner. In boxing, “The GWOAT” has remained undefeated, having gone 16-0 as a pro.

Shields unified the heavyweight titles earlier this month after she dominated Danielle Perkins en route to a unanimous decision victory. However, “T-Rex” got suspended after testing positive for marijuana.

As it stands, Shields is still being called out by Cris Cyborg. This time, the Brazilian wants the undisputed boxing champ to face her in a PFL showdown.
