After years of setbacks and anticipation, Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. finally stepped inside the squared circle on Saturday night in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. 

Eubank Jr. enters the ring with a record of 34-3, with 25 of his wins coming by way of knockout. Meanwhile, the undefeated Benn goes into the bout with 23 wins and 14 KOs. 

Round 1

Eubank comes out looking to land the right hand early, as Benn is aggressive from the get-go. Eubank jabs, but Benn ducks under. Eubank continues pumping his jab, but none of them connect. Benn throws a booming right hand that partially connects near the ropes. Eubank ties up, prompting a break. Benn double jabs and appears to be the faster of the two fighters. Benn throws a big shot to the body, but he’s just out of range. The two close the round trading shots in close, but nothing lands clean for either man. 

Round 2

They go right at it in the second round. Benn lands a counter left, followed by a right, and they tie up. The referee warns both fighters for not breaking when instructed. Eubank is keeping his left hand low, leaving him open for a potential counter. Benn unleashes a big right hook that connects. Eubank jabs in response, but eats another body blow. Benn lands a counter right and starts swinging big, looking for an early finish. 

Benn gets into range and lets his left hand go, but he can’t get through Eubank’s guard as the second stanza comes to a close. 

Round 3

After a relatively quiet second round, Eubank is trying to get his jab going in the third, but Benn backs him up with a one-two in the center of the ring. Eubank is on wobbly legs with just under two minutes to go in the round. Benn clinches up, and they do a little dirty boxing before being ordered to separate. They trade jabs, and Benn partially connects with an overhand right. 

Eubank ducks under a shot and practically shoots for a takedown, sending both fighters down to the canvas. The fight resumes, and Benn connects with another stiff shot that Eubank has no answer for. 

Round 4

Eubank mixes up his jabs early in the round and fires off a lead left hook. Benn closes the distance, and Eubank gets him in a headlock, prompting a break. Eubank rips to the body, in what has been a much better round for him so far. However, Benn comes right back with a combination in close. Benn ties up and lands a couple of thudding body shots before the separation. 

Eubank nearly connects with an uppercut, but it’s his jab that’s keeping him in the fight so far. Benn throws a left, and Eubank nearly dips his head right into it. They trade big shots with 20 seconds to go in the round. Eubank lands a left and unleashes a flurry of strikes near the ropes just before the bell. 

Round 5

Benn goes down early, but it’s not ruled a knockdown as Eubank appeared to push him. Back up, Eubank lands a strong right hand, but Benn fires right back with one of his own. Benn is pressing forward, but Eubank lands a right. Benn throws a couple of jabs, followed by a looping left hook that Eubank blocks. Eubank is starting to catch Benn as he attempts to rush in. Benn lands a decent shot to the body and closes out the fifth round by dodging the return fire from Eubank. 

Round 6

Benn opens with a lead left hook, followed by a right as he tries to disrupt the rhythm that Eubank has found in the last couple of rounds. Benn lands with a right hand over Eubank’s jab. Eubank connected with a counter. Benn comes in aggressively and throws to the body. Eubank attempts to counter with an uppercut, but he just misses the mark. Eubank pumps the jab, but Benn walks right through it, looking to land a left. 

Eubank swings big with a right, but Benn ducks under. The two tie up, and Eubank is warned seconds before the final bell due to an accidental blow to the back of Benn’s head. 

Round 7

Only a few seconds into the seventh round, Eubank gets another warning from the referee for not breaking fast enough. Once the fight resumes, Eubank lands a big right hand that gets a reaction out of the crowd. He lands on a one-two-one combination, and the tide appears to be turning a bit in this one. 

Eubank lands with a left. Benn fires back with a ride. Eubank targets the body, trying to slow down his opponent as they hit the halfway point of the fight. Benn lets his hands go, and Eubank absorbs a couple of shots, struggling to get his head off the centerline. They trade jabs, and Benn tries to land a left, but he’s punching from too far out.

Round 8

Benn comes out throwing heavy, and Eubank tries to fire back with a left. Eubank lands a couple of solid shots as the two let their fists fly in the center of the ring. Benn uncorks a left hook. Things are really starting to pop off as Eubank throws a couple of uppercuts near the ropes. Eubank closes the distance, but he pays for it, eating a nasty right hand in close. 

Benn is desperately looking for a big right hand, and Eubank is content to duck in and tie up for the remainder of the round. 

Round 9

Both fighters pick up right where they left off in the second, firing shots in close against the ropes. Eubank is pushing forward as Benn uncorks a couple of stiff shots to the body. Eubank eats it and keeps closing the distance, looking to punish Benn in close. During a fiery exchange with less than a minute to go, Benn lands a booming right hand that appears to have Eubank rocked. Eubank clinches up, and the break gives him a few seconds to clear out the cobwebs and continue. 

Eubank is still walking through everything Benn throws at him, but Eubank is now busted open over his right eye due to an accidental clash of heads. 

Round 10

Eubank comes out and immediately ducks his way inside, landing a heavy left hand. Benn comes back with a hook to the body. Eubank appears to catch Benn with a left against the ropes. Benn rips to the body once again, and Eubank comes right back. A majority of the fight is being contested in the clinch at this point. Benn unloads a slew of furious shots, and Eubank is just marching forward. Eubank is starting to look tired, but he’s not backing down, throwing shots to the body.

Eubank throws a lazy-looking one-two, and Benn makes him pay with a combination. Still, Eubank lets his hands go, lighting up Benn against the ropes moments before the bell sounds. 

Round 11

With the fight incredibly close, neither fighter is letting up. Eubank marches forward and connects with a beautifully timed jab. Benn is still working the body in close, but Eubank appears to be landing the more impactful blows up top, which will curry favor with the judges. Eubank unleashes a series of shots near the ropes. Benn is bobbing and weaving, and the two are finally broken up. They continue to trade shots through the bell, bringing the crowd to its feet with excitement. 

Round 12

Eubank comes out with a couple of early lefts that miss, but the punches help pin Benn against the ropes. Eubank unleashes another flurry of punches. Benn ties up and separates. Back in the center of the ring, Benn comes out with a big right hand, but Eubank ducks under. Benn rips to the body, and Eubank decides to empty the tank, throwing everything he has at Benn with a minute to go in the fight. 

Benn is desperately trying to fight back near the ropes, and Eubank is tired. Still, that doesn’t stop him from throwing with every ounce of strength he has left, landing a nice left hand on Benn. The two throw hands through the final bell, and then some, earning a standing ovation for their instant classic.
