- Angelo Leo put Venado Lopez to sleep with one punch
- “El Chinito” is now the new IBF featherweight champion
Angelo Leo was able to dethrone Venado Lopez with one brutal punch that landed perfectly.
A nasty left from the challenger
Lopez and Leo arrived at the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque this past Saturday for their IBF world featherweight title bout. Both fighters were eager to knock each other out but it was Leo who caught Lopez with a left hand that ultimately flattened the champ out on the canvas.
Leo’s finishing left hook came in Round 10 of the pair’s twelve-round title fight. In the video below, Lopez could be seen struggling to get up as he laid on the mat after his head bounced a couple of times due to the impact of the punch.

KO of the year candidate
As expected, many were blown away by Leo’s vicious knockout punch on Lopez. In fact, some are already hailing it as a Knockout of the Year candidate and definitely one of the most brutal KO’s in boxing history.

What’s even worth noting was that Leo came in as a -350 underdog. However, he beat the odds and became the new IBF featherweight champion.
Prior to finishing Lopez, “El Chinito” was coming off an impressive four-fight winning streak. On the other hand, Lopez was hoping to defend his belt once again, having successfully defended it in three consecutive title fights.
