The Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennadiy Golovkin trilogy is official.
The news was announced Tuesday by DAZN and Matchroom Boxing as Alvarez will defend his super middleweight titles against Golovkin on September 17.
No location or venue is announced as of now, but an announcement should be expected soon on where the fight will take place.

The third meeting — which will notably be contested at 168 pounds between the pair for the first time — will take place four years after their rematch.
Their first meeting took place in September 2017 where their middleweight title bout was ruled a split decision draw, with many believing Golovkin had done more than enough to win.
The rematch took place a year later in September with Alvarez edging out a much closer contest and earning the unanimous decision.
Of course, the trilogy was no secret as it was bound to happen later this year.
However, that was contingent on both Alvarez and Golovkin winning their last fights.
Golovkin did his job by TKOing Ryota Murata. However, Alvarez ended up losing a unanimous decision to Dmitry Bivol in their light heavyweight title fight earlier this month.
Many thought the trilogy would have to take a backseat as a result, especially as Alvarez called for a rematch with Bivol.
However, the Mexican clearly changed his mind and is interested in settling things with Golovkin first, with no love lost between the pair over the years.
