Despite a point deduction, Cat Zingano earned a comfortable victory.
Zingano made it three wins in a row after a unanimous decision win over former Invicta champion Pam Sorenson in their featherweight contest in the Bellator 282 prelims Friday night.
The former UFC star took the fight to the ground early and would cut up Sorenson. However, Zingano would get a point deduction after an illegal knee only worsened Sorenson’s cut.
After being given time to recover, Sorenson fought on. The rest of the fight, though, was more of the same as Zingano dominated on the feet and on the ground after taking Sorenson down multiple times.
In the end, there was no doubts as to who the winner was despite the round one point deduction.
As a result, Zingano remains undefeated in Bellator and could go on to challenge Cris Cyborg for the 145-pound title next.
Official Result: Cat Zingano defeats Pam Sorenson via unanimous decision (29-26, 29-27, 29-27).
