Rory MacDonald Responds To Gegard Mousasi’s Callout

Gegard Mousasi dispatched Rafael Carvalho via first-round TKO in their middleweight title bout on Friday at Bellator 200 from SSE Arena in London, England on the Paramount Network. Shortly after the finish, Mousasi called 170-pound champion Rory MacDonald.

It didn’t take long to Bellator welterweight champ Rory MacDonald to respond via Twitter post and accepted the challenge.

“The Red King” scores the welterweight title with a win over Douglas Lima at Bellator 192, congratulated Mousasi on his winning the 185-pound title.

Both fighters held the championship in their perspective divisions, MacDonald is the welterweight champion, and Mousasi is now the new middleweight champion.

MacDonald a former UFC title challenge left the UFC back in 2016 and debuted with Bellator following year with two straight victories, submitting Paul Daley in his debut before outclassing Douglas Lima to earn welterweight strap.

Mousasi, also a former UFC contender, signed with Bellator in July 2017 and defeated Alexander Shlemenko via decision in his debut.

Both Mousasi and MacDonald already has made some strong comments about the potential matchup, in interviews and through social media for quite some time.

A matchup between both fighters, in particular, would likely draw the attention of more than just the average Bellator viewer.
