Michael Chandler Becomes Three-Time Bellator Champion
Last night in the main headliner of Bellator 212, Michael Chandler not only reclaimed the lightweight belt back after hard-fought five rounds against Brent Primus; moreover, he made history, by becoming a champion for the third time. Chandler lost the same title to Primus back in June of 2017 via TKO.
All three judges score in favor of Chandler: 50-45.
The fight was turned into a wrestling-mania for Chandler, especially after the second frame. Primus failed to win a round, despite he did well when the match was standing.
A native of Portland, Oregon, Primus dropped Chandler with a powerful jab and then took challenger’s back. He attempted a finished a rear-naked choke, but Chandler was able to slip away and then turn into Primus in the second round.
Byt the third frame, Primus landed some great shots on feet, but Chandler also hurled some low single leg and started grinding champion. By the fourth and fifth round, Brent failed to answer Chandler’s wrestling game plan and lost the bout via unanimous decision as Chandler swept all three judges’ scorecards.
