Fedor Emelianenko Vs. Chael Sonnen Bellator Tourney Semifinal Set For Oct. 13

A Bellator World Heavyweight Grand Prix semifinal bout between Fedor Emelianenko and Chael Sonnen is set to go down on October 13 in the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, N.Y.

The news about this matchup first reported by Newsday.com, then MMAFighting confirmed the news.

Before this contest, another half of the Grand-Prix semifinals between Matt Mitrione and Ryan Bader will go down in Connecticut.

Former longtime PRIDE heavyweight champion and one of the greatest fighters in MMA history, Fedor Emelianenko has scored six of his past seven fights. His most recent outing was at Bellator 198, where he earned the victory after defeating ex-UFC titleholder Frank Mir via first-round knockout. In his tenure, Fedor holds notable victories over the likes of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (x2), Andrei Arlovski, Tim Sylvia, Mark Hunt, and Mirko Cro Cop, among others.

A former UFC and WEC title challenger Chael Sonnen, who made his heavyweight debut in heavyweight Grand Prix tournament and scores a win over Quinton Jackson via decision at Bellator 192. Before this, he scores a decision win over longtime rival Wanderlei Silva.
