Wanderlei Silva Challenges Vitor Belfort For Bare Knuckle Fight

It was recently announced that Wanderlei Silva was looking to make his return in Bare Knuckle Fighting. Now, he has an opponent in mind for that fight.

Silva has had a bit of a tough run, as of late, not having won a fight since 2013. Moreover, he signed the Bellator, where he dropped two in a row to Chael Sonnen and Rampage Jackson. Following that, he was released from his Bellator contract. Subsequently it was revealed that he was perhaps looking to fight in BKFC.

In an interview with AG Fight, Wanderlei Silva explained what it was about BKFC that he liked so much. He said he was invited to an event, and absolutely loved what he saw.

“About Bare Knuckle, I was invited to make an appearance there. I was invited to watch Gabriel ‘Napao’ (Gonzaga) fight Antonio ‘Pezao’ (Bigfoot Silva). They pull some interesting numbers. I think I have finally found the perfect stage to settle all my beefs in the sport. You can only use your hands in bare knuckle boxing”

Currently, no bout has been announced for Silva, but he has an opponent in mind.

“Here’s the challenge I wanted to have at Bare Knuckle. I sent one of the promoters an audio clip. They’re offering quite the amount, an impressive amount of cash. more than what I’m making. I told them I really wanted to fight, but against a particular guy.

I would accept if I could face Vitor Belfort. Bare knuckles. five two-minute rounds, only boxing. I want to see if he’s a man or if he’ll run. We found the right place to settle one of the sport’s oldest rivalries. What’s up, Vitor? Are you in or are you going to run?”

Silva was supposed to fight Vitor Belfort in the UFC after they coached The Ultimate Fighter Brazil. This was to be a rematch from their bout in 1998, where Vitor won in 44 seconds. However, Belfort was forced to withdraw due to a broken hand, and the bout never came together.
