Combat sports fans have found a new fascination in bare-knuckle boxing. When MMA and boxing aren’t bloody enough, fans turn to bare-knuckle, and the BKFC is leading the way in this new all-out brawl style of boxing. Over the past few years, BKFC has grown in popularity. This growth has allowed the promotion to begin to sign big-name stars. Among them are Mike Perry and Michael Page, two of the biggest names on the roster, and they are set to face off against each other on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Mike Perry and Michael Page will headline Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship 27: London

This will be Page’s first foray into bare-knuckle boxing. Mainly an MMA fighter, MVP has been under contract with Bellator for the past eight years. When this opportunity to try out bare-knuckle boxing came about it was shocking to many people. After he was matched with Perry the interest from fans began to grow, and now just a few days from the fight, both men are ready to go. They were both guests on The MMA Hour where Perry began to take some verbal shots at his adversary.

“I  think he’s here to find out some things about himself to see if everyone he’s been fighting over the years is a can, like everyone on the internet has been saying about him and I could care less about his past fights or anything because Saturday night he’s going to be in front of me and I’m going to teach him a few lessons,” Perry said. “I’m the teacher this weekend. He thinks he gonna show me some, I’ve seen your act before.”

Perry came to BKFC following his release from the UFC. He has had one fight in the promotion, a win over Julian Lane back in February. Although Perry has the advantage of fighting in a bare-knuckle fight before, his most recent record is less than stellar, he lost four of his last five in the UFC before coming to BKFC. Although Page is coming off a loss, he did win his last six before that.

“I’m gonna break him. Whether it be defensively, offensively, pressure you know, making him miss, making him pay, all of the above, you’re gonna miss too,” Perry said. “And if you don’t miss it’s going to hurt you.”

Perry has been in some brawls in his day and can definitely take some shots. That might be his plan in order to break his opponent as he said, take the shots and outlast Page. However, Page is a finisher, he has 12 wins by KO in his career and has been known to put on a show.
