Mike expects a huge one
Speaking to TMZ Sports, “Platinum” acknowledged the difference of his style to that of Page. He is well aware that he’s always “aggressive” while MVP, on the other hand, is more of a “flashy” fighter who also likes to take people out. But all told, Perry is confident he’ll still be able to “break” Page at some point.
“I mean for the fans that love fighting, I go in there and do what it do,” Perry said. “I get angry and I try to take a guy out. MVP is flashy. He tries to take a guy out and, you know, I’m trying to touch that line too. Flashy, angry, try to keep my cool, but I’m always so aggressive because I have that in my back pocket, that ferocity. I gotta be able to take it and give it.”
“I’m expecting him to break eventually and if he doesn’t, we can be in the sixth sudden death round and I’m gonna knock him out at some point,” he predicted. “It will be the first two minutes or the last two minutes, I’m gonna knock him out!”
Crowd jeers would help
With the fight taking place in Page’s home soil, Perry expects nothing less from the English crowd. In fact, he’s already planning to use the crowd jeers as motivation.
“Man, [the hostile crowd] fires me up!,” Perry pointed out. “Gets my blood boiling and I’m pumped to go out there and put on the show,” Mike says, adding, “I hope they’re throwing violent slurs at me and like, you know, just trying to really get me in the zone for the fight.”
Indeed, it will be interesting to see which style will prevail. Will Perry be able to take Page out with his vicious boxing or will MVP add another flashy knockout to his highlight reel. We’ll find out on August 20.
