- John Dodson stopped his fellow former UFC fighter Ryan Benoit in the first round of their BKFC 28 bout
- “The Magician” was able to pull off a remarkable performance in his BKFC debut
Former UFC fighters John Dodson and Ryan Benoit came in at the Rio Rancho Events Center in Albuquerque, N.M. Saturday at BKFC 28 with a clean record. However, “The Magician” was just too much for Benoit to handle, winning his BKFC debut via a first-round finish.
Finishing the job
Dodson wasted no time as he viciously attacked Benoit right after the opening bell rang. After 35 seconds, “The Magician” dropped Benoit, who was able to get back to his feet. Dodson carried on and floored his fellow UFC veteran once again. The referee in charge let Benoit continue with the fight but when Dodson landed a few more strikes, the ref figured he’d seen enough and stepped in to stop the fight with 40 seconds remaining in the very first round.
A bright future at BKFC?
After pulling off a stunning win in his BKFC debut, Dodson could be looking at a bright future with bare-knuckle boxing promotion. The 37-year-old last fought in the UFC in 2020 where he lost via decision to Merab Dvalishvili. Prior to switching to BKFC, Dodson has gone 1-1 at XMMA.
In the UFC, “The Magician” challenged for the title twice in the flyweight division and needless to say, he’ll be hoping to do the same at BKFC. Let’s see how things will pan out.
