On Saturday, April 29, BKFC held their biggest event of the year, which featured Eddie Alvarez vs. Chad Mendes in the co-main event and Luke Rockhold vs. Mike Perry in the main event. Prior to a women’s title fight between Christine Ferea and Bec Rawlings, McGregor sent shock waves through the 1stBank Center in Colorado by making a shocking appearance.

McGregor was placed ringside and created several memorable moments throughout the night. It didn’t take long until ‘The Notorious’ was seen letting loose by drinking Proper Twelve Whiskey directly from the bottle.

During the co-main event, the former two-division UFC champion screamed advice to Alvarez and Mendes, who are both former opponents of his. At one point, McGregor told ‘The Underground King’ to throw an uppercut, which he successfully did before acknowledging ‘The Notorious.’

Despite numerous surprises, McGregor’s most unexpected moment at BKFC 41 came after the main event.

Conor McGregor praises BKFC, says he’s ‘in this game’

Shortly after Mike Perry defeated Luke Rockhold, he utilized his in-ring interview to ask Conor McGregor for a faceoff. McGregor approved the request, leading to a moment nobody could have seen coming. After exchanging words with Perry, ‘The Notorious’ was asked about his experience attending a BKFC event while holding their championship belt. He responded by saying:

“It’s an incredible setup here, incredibly matchmaking, incredible storytelling. I had to come here. I flew straight away, I was not going to miss this and it did not disappoint. All of these fighters that step in here are warriors and all have my respect and I’m in this game. I would be into this.”

McGregor last fought in July 2021, losing against Dustin Poirier for the second consecutive fight. The 34-year-old suffered a severe leg injury, leading to surgery and an extended recovery process. Earlier this year, ‘The Notorious’ took the next step toward his Octagon return by coaching The Ultimate Fighter Season 31 alongside Michael Chandler. Once the TV show is done airing, McGregor is expected to take on Chandler in a highly-anticipated matchup.
