Thiago Alves wants to fight Mike Perry next, and we want to see it.
Alves vs. Perry
Perry had his long-awaited BKFC debut this weekend, and it didn’t disappoint. In the main event, he defeated Julian Lane via unanimous decision at BKFC: KnuckleMania 2. Perry’s win got the attention of current BKFC middleweight champion Alves.
Speaking with TMZ Sports, Alves says he wants Perry next.
“He looked good. He’s not going to look that good against me though,” Alves said. “I hope we can make this fight happen. It was supposed to happen in 2017. I’m looking forward to that knuckling up.”
Perry and Alves were supposed to fight in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Branch back in 2017; however, the fight fell through when Alves suffered an injury. The fight was never rescheduled in the UFC, unfortunately.
Biggest Fight Ever
Alves believes a fight with Perry will be the biggest fight in BKFC history, eclipsing Paige Van Zant vs. Rachael Ostovich and Artem Lobov vs. Paulie Malignaggi.
“Without a doubt [it will be the biggest fight ever]. Mike Perry is like the new generation, you know, he has a lot of hype behind him. Didn’t do as much as I’ve done in the sport, you know, I’ve been a lot longer than he has, but as right now, I don’t see any bigger fight in the making for the organization,” Alves said. “So, Dave Feldman, let’s make it happen!”
There is no doubt that a bare-knuckle fight between Alves and Perry would be a lot of fun and nothing but pure violence. Alves, however, says it will be beautiful violence.
“It’s gonna be very exciting! I think the fans are gonna go for a super fun night of very bloody, but you know, you’re gonna see some beautiful violence.”
There have been no talks about the fighting happening just yet, but Alves thinks the fight could happen in June or July to kick off the summer.
